2004 HIA Victoria Award Winner: Vermont
Category: Custom Built Homes up to $200,000
“Designing and building this house was all about the budget. We made a house that appears monolithic but employs mostly lightweight, thermally efficient materials.
It’s not a big house but but it feels roomy because of the varied floor and ceiling heights, with the sense of space accentuated by reflective timber floor surfaces.
The entry steps were an improvisation by the carpenters on site and are a statement that immediately caught the judges’ eye”.
2004 HIA Victoria Award Finalist: Vermont
Category: Custom Built Homes $350,000 – $500,000
“Another house in the same estate as the Custom Built Homes Winner up to $200,000, this home had a far broader scope and budget. Looking back, we are pleased that the design still holds up well today.”
