Homeowner Services: FAST TRACK Concept Workshop
Homeowner Services: FAST TRACK Concept Workshop
The FAST TRACK Concept Workshop takes a fresh approach to designing your home – whether that be renovating your current home or designing your dream home from scratch.
It replaces the traditional time consuming back-and-forth design process, with a single four hour collaborative workshop that uses your input to arrive at your design for your home.
Be an Architect for a Day
Prior to your workshop, we ask you to complete our ‘HOMEwork’ design preferences questionnaire.
Our team then conduct both a site visit and planning policy & building research based on your ‘HOMEwork’ answers, preparing site specific preliminary design ideas.
The FAST TRACK Concept Workshop takes place at our office in Collins Street, Melbourne.
It consists of four one-hour sessions:
- Session 1: Our team clarify and refine your ‘HOMEwork’ answers with you over coffee.
- Session 2: Designers refine preliminary design ideas based on Session 1 feedback while you are walked through the design and build process, answering any questions you may have.
- Session 3: Designers present refined sketches back to you and collaboration time begins! This is where you can alter floorplans and in the process understand the design, planning, building, timeline & budget consequences of design decisions you make.
- Session 4: Once we have arrived at your final floorplan, we will give it the 3D treatment. Whilst you take a break, we prepare your 3D prototype to be ready upon your return.

Frequently Asked Questions
+ Question: How can I be an Architect for a Day?
The FAST TRACK Concept Workshop is a unique architectural experience where our team of qualified, professional residential designers and builders translate
your new home ideas onto paper –
live.
Because the entire process occurs live you are able to:
- Make design decisions,
- Understand the implications,
- Make adjustments
And all of this occurs in real time.
+ Question: What exactly do I get from a FAST TRACK Concept Workshop?
The FAST TRACK Concept Workshop is concluded by providing you with:
- A Concept Sketch – a high level concept sketch that is the result of the collaborative process between yourself, designer and building consultant.
- A Rapid 3D Prototype – high level 3D snapshots that give you an understanding of dwelling size and mass

Here’s an example of the results of a recent FAST TRACK Concept Workshop where our client designed their own new home in Boroondara Council:

+ Question: How is the FAST TRACK Concept Workshop different?
- Instantaneous Stakeholder Collaboration. Regular architectural design services deliver similar services typically over several weeks via numerous emails, phone calls and meetings. Having yourself, a designer and a building consultant addressing issues face to face in real time eliminates unnecessary to-and-fro communications (and misunderstandings).
- Builder Involvement. Regular services rarely involve a qualified builder during the initial Concept Stage. Incorporating “build-ability” into the design minimises nasty (cost) surprises later down the track. This service alone means the FAST TRACK Concept Workshop pays for itself many times over.
- Owner-led design. The very nature of architectural design services means that that they are designer-led. The FAST TRACK Concept Workshop empowers you to lead the design process.
+ Question: What obligation do I have to continue using your services?
At the conclusion of the FAST TRACK Concept Workshop, you are under
no obligation to continue using our services.
The Concept Sketch & Rapid 3D Prototype that we prepare for you is yours to keep and is freely available for you to use whether you continue using our services or not.
Additionally, the role of the building consultant is only to answer your questions and highlight building implications (ie. complexities and costs) of any design decisions made. You are under no obligation to contract the services of the builder involved.
Just like all of our services, the FAST TRACK Concept Workshop is simply one Step of our larger 7 Steps Property Development system.
You may choose to use us for as few or as many Steps as you require.
