What is the Sustainable Housing by Design Workshop?
As part of the State of Design Festival 2010, we’ll be conducting Sustainable Housing by Design Workshops with interested festival attendees.
The Sustainable Housing by Design Workshop is a free 20 minute one-on-one residential design consultation where we work with you to explore how sustainability can be designed into your new home, extension or property development – right from the start.
Resident Design & Sustainability Consultant, Ms Simone Schenkel, has prepared a fantastic 20 minute session that will systematically explore how the 7 Pillars of Sustainable Architecture can be applied to your property:
- Climate + Thermal Comfort
- Solar Access + House Siting
- Insulation
- Windows + Doors
- Thermal Mass
- Air Leakage + Thermal Bridges
- Material Selection
You’ll walk away with tangible sustainable architecture opportunities identified for the design of your new property.

- Times: Thursday 15th & Friday 16th July: 9.00am – 5.00pm
- Times: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th July: 10.00am – 5.00pm

Can I prepare anything beforehand?
To get the most out of your 20 minute Sustainable Housing by Design Workshop:
- BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL to secure your place and avoid disappointment.
- Provide as MUCH INFORMATION as possible. Where possible, please provide site plans, photographs, sketches and/or designs you like so that we can get a feel for your design objectives.
